Alex Parkinson Quintet – PJS Young Lions
April 11, 2018 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm$5
Alex Parkinson Quintet:
Feeling the mid-week madness setting in? Tired of waiting for the weekend to have a reason to go out? Well your prayers have not gone unheard!
PJS is putting on some very exciting shows at Bar Sequel on Wednesday evenings, showcasing the incredibly talented youth of the Perth jazz scene. The Alex Parkinson Quintet is no exception, featuring an incredible line-up that just can’t help but groove and energise. You will hear some of his very own original compositions – some never before heard making their debut at this performance – alongside some very exciting Dave Holland compositions.
Alex is a young up-and-coming jazz trombonist in Perth who has just graduated from WAAPA, and now has his sights set on Japan (well, more like a wistful glance every now and then), so come on down and support this ludicrous dream of his for only $5 entry fee! If you listen closely, you may even hear some Japanese inspiration in his own compositions…
Alongside him are some even more incredibly talented youth:
Daniel Khaimov – Alto Saxophone
James O’Brien – Piano
Kieran Barnes – Bass
William Chiew – Drums
Good vibes and reasonably priced drinks guaranteed, so be there or be figuratively quadrilateral – we do not discriminate!
Music starts at 8PM. See you there!
Perth Jazz Society Young Lions:
The PJS Young Lions series runs fortnightly at Bar Sequel on Hay St. It is an opportunity for young musicians studying at the WA Academy of Performing Arts to showcase some of their compositions and arrangements with their own groups. Come along and check out what some of Perth’s amazing young musicians have to offer!
Music starts at 8PM
Entry is $5
